WAPP-F chamber and membrane filter presses can be utilised to highly efficiently dewater different types of sludges, slurries (limestone sludge, sewage sludge, industrial sludges etc.). And also they can be used in manufacturing processes where the press cake is used further in production (e.g. some food industry applications).
The screen-sheets with frame create the chambers as being placed on both sides of the press holder. The filtration area on the screen-sheets is made by the filtering canvases placed around the chambers. The sludge goes into the chambers via the joining holes with the help of the sludge sending pump. The filtered water (the emerging sludge) leaves going through the filtering canvases out of the holes, while the solid sludge phase remains in the chambers. The sludge sending to the press is continuous, while the permeability of the chambers is reducing as the dry-matter of the retained sludge is increasing. A pressure switch stops the pump when reaching the given maximal pressure in the chambers, then following the pressure reduction, caused by the leaving water, restarts it. The process is repeating until the given process/break time is reached by the installation and it means the end of the filtration cycle. As the dry-matter of the retaining sludge in the chambers reached the wished value, the chambers can be emptied and the process can be restarted again.
WAPP Ltd. offers both chamber and membrane filter presses as well. The principle of operation by the membrane filter presses is the same as the chamber filter presses except the last step of the pressing process. At the membrane filter press a separate water or air pump provides more effective dewatering as it presses the membrane tympans with the help of water or air thus it causes further water loss in the press cakes.
The closing of the small capacity chamber presses is mechanic, during which the press tympans can be closed manually with the help of a screwing spindle.

In case of chamber press, the hydraulic closing is the most widespread, where the strength necessary for the movement of the press tympans is created with the help of a hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic closing presses are automatized except the press picking necessary at the end of the pressing cycle (opening of press tympans, the removal of press cake from them).

By the automatic presses, the necessary press picking process is automatized at the end of the pressing cycle. At the end of the pressing cycle, chain operating opening provides the disassembling of the press tympans for the removal of the press cake.
